Research And Development Of Remote Automatic Meter Reading System

The remote automatic meter reading system is used to collect the number of intelligent heat meters, instead of the traditional manual meter reading. In the domestic, there are many people working in research the automatic meter reading, even some products of meter reading have been used, but the automatic meter reading system currently is not far from mature and perfect, so it has not formed a unified industry standard, and the key technology has yet to break through. This issue is also commissioned by the enterprises. In view of remote automatic meter reading system problems and technical difficulties, the main work focused on improving the data transmission, improving communication quality and reducing communication costs.The main work and the results obtained of this issue are listed in the following two areas:1. In order to realize the intelligent instrument to terminal concentrator bi-directional data communication, and to ensure good communication quality, this paper used a special instrument meter bus, can also use M-Bus bus remote power supply function to extend the service life of the battery terminal instrument. In order to realize the concentrator to the master station long distance bi-directional communication, this paper researched the short message and GPRS wireless communication methods. Through comparing the two data communication modes in all aspects of performance in the experimental process, finally selected the GPRS communication mode. In order to reduce the GPRS wireless communication costs, by using virtual private network technology, realized the low costs and high quality of long distance wireless data transmission.2. For preservation and processing the remote meter reading data, programmed management software of master station to get the meter reading data, generate costs and query the costs by VC++. This paper used SQL Server database management, storage and backup the remote meter reading data.Experimental results show that the meter reading system with the GPRS and virtual private network technology can greatly reduce operating costs under the premise of security, reliability and stability of the system, so it is worthy of further research.
