This thesis mainly deals with the remote meter reading and management of gas meter of industrial consumer, according to the quick development of automatic meter reading technology, embedded system technology, wireless data communication technology and internet technology in recent years. This embedded system has advantage of execution efficiency, software cubage, communication handling ability, multi-tasks, modular tailorable and so on. The system defines a set of protocol to be standard communication channel between a center station, a flowmeter and a terminal.The thesis discusses the significance of remote meter reading and management instrutial gas meter in the first chapter. Then it introduces the development of automatic meter reading technology all over the world. Finally the object and research direction of this thesis are also given.In the second chapter, the thesis states the system requirements and it's architechture. Then it gives the terminal's requirements, functions analysis and architechture.In chapter three, the development of embedded technology, wireless communication technology of GPRS and CDMA are introduced first of all. ARM introduction and the embedded development environment including developing enviroment's selection and embedded operation system are introduced, too.On the base of the requirements analysis of the terminal, the paper states the scheme of terminal hardware design in chapter four.The chapter five is the main part of the thesis, which is dedicated to the detailed design of the terminal software. First the overall software scheme is listed. Also the method of programming bootloader of ARM and porting of μC/OS-Ⅱ are stated. In the end, the thesis expatiates design and implement of the terminal, including Flash driver, uart driver GPRS/CDMA and TCP/IP communication modules, timing-reading-meter module, parameter setting module and so on.In the chapter six, the thesis gives general testing of embedded technology and some testing cases in our system.In last chapter, it comes to a conclusion of the research and the prospect of further work.
