The flatness is an important indicators of hot stripped steel, so on-line detecting and monitoring of the flatness is an effective means for controlling the quality of the rolling strip. On-line flatness device has been widely used in industry manufacture and measurement because of its features, such as non-contact, high accuracy, high stability and so on.The researches of the hardware system of the dissertation are carried out on the principle of flatness measurement. An improved flatness system is put forward,based on the existing measurement system. The empheses of the dissertation are researching software design of flatness system. The code of the system is implemented by means of VHDL description, and the data processing modules of the system are completed by way of FPGA design, and the system is verified on FPGA development kit.Firstly, the three height signals of every measurement point are processed by means of 3-Plane Height Processing, to get a height value of every point. Secondly, after 3-Plane Height Processing, Peak Elimination is performed, to wipe off the peak measurement point and make the measurement signal to approach the real signal. Thirdly, simulations of the above designs are carried out by QuartusⅡand the simulation results are verified by matlab. Finally, CycloneⅢdevelopment kit from Altera Corporation is adopted, to test software design of the system by experimentation and display the test result by seven-segment digital tube. The result shows that the data processing module has high accuracy and stability, which meets the design requirements.
