As the global environment changes, micro-scale air-sea interface has also been expressed as the process of air-sea interaction becomes more and more valued by scientists, so the simulation of waves in the laboratory becomes an important way for micro-scale process research. Wave theory and its computation model provide a theoretical basis for the realization of a wave maker. The development of control theory and computer technology makes the realization of a high performance wave maker possible.This article discusses the development of wave maker device and briefly overview of the virtual instrument technology. According to wave theory and its computation theories explained the linear wave theory and the wave spectrum theory, and calculated the mathematical relationship between wobble board amplitude and wave height.The research designed a wind wave maker tank monitoring software by using graphical programming software NI LabVIEW and its powerful function library as well as the test and measurement control unit, which mainly includes NI-Motion control module, the motion control algorithm based on PC motion control card, the realization of the closed-loop control algorithm for regular waves, the closed-loop correction control algorithm for irregular waves and the wind wave PID control algorithm. Then proposed the joint make wave method by wind and wave plate.Finally, the paper describes a large number of various experiments to verify its performance indicators. Through the analysis of experimental results, it shows that the wave maker has a strong wind and wave modeling capability. The wave maker with integrated precision measuring equipments together constitute an low-cost use experimental system for optical detection of the process of micro-scale air-sea interface, which can be used for multi-element simultaneous observations for laboratory study, it effectively improves the level of experimental conditions for domestic research on interaction of air-sea interface.
