With the increase of marine development and construction of large hydraulic project, wave theory has increasingly become a hot research field. And wave machine is more and more widely used as an important research tool. Correspondingly, the wave machine theory also has a significant development.Wave theory is not only the basis of the design of the wave maker, but also the theoretical basis of wave machine control. Wave machine theory is developed on the base of the wave theory. This paper describes the basic wave theory, introduces the theory of wind wave, and summarizes the development of the wave maker and wave machine theory as well as research status at home and abroad. On this basis, according to the view of energy conservation, the concept of unequal cycle operation in paddle wave maker is put forward, and the relationship between water speed and wave speed is analysed. In addition, the design process of the wave maker control hardware is analysed in detail, and a general selection method of the motor power is proposed.As an important test platform, the wind wave is added to the wave maker system which is based on the traditional paddle wave maker. Wind wave is mainly used to generate capillary waves for the convenience of other research. And fan makes wave by way of suction. As to the paddle wave maker, the system uses Linear module and AC servo to drive. Control software uses the company's U.S. NI LabVIEW virtual instrument test platform.And the integrated development of the system software is completed in the experimental platform.The system software mainly includes:background communication, the user management, fan control, servo control, alarm control, data query, waveform data query, waveform data analysis, etc.Based on the software platform, combined with wave height meter, anemometer sensors and PCI control card, the whole closed-loop control of the paddle wave maker and fan is completed.In addition, the system itself mainly provides a working platform for other test equipment to use.So the system has done a preliminary analysis of electromagnetic interference, and it gives solutions and achieves good working results.
