Simulating movement of high sea wave in the wave tank or basin and making research into the action of sea wave on coastal and offshore structures could provide the reliable basis for engineering design and scientific experimentation. The high-power wave maker is the key problem for the realization of the physical model test.This paper introduces the actuality and development trend of technology of developing wave maker. It also introduces motion control technology and variety and characters of motion control system. Go deep into the research of control methods of motion control system and motion control network in this system.According to the project's requirements and feature, select the best type of generating wave and explain the working mechanism briefly. Through theoretical calculations, select motor in the design of maximum load. At last, the final choice is SIEMENS 1FT6 series motor, and we select SIMOTION D series controller and SINAMICS S120 drive as its control and drive unit. In detail describe the entire system of hardware connections and software design. Host computer software development is entirely based on MFC platform to complete the wave file generation and the control of slave controller. Slave controller software is based on SCOUT platform to complete making wave, homing, CAM curve generation, real-time monitoring, troubleshooting and so on, and the language is MCC and ST. Using Winsock and ST languages based on TCP/IP, complete the network software for data transmission and control command implementation between host computer and slave controller. Finally introduces the test result of this system, and demonstrates the feasibility of high-power motor applied to wave maker control system.Through the research of high-power wave maker control system, using SIMOTION motion controller and SIEMENS 1FT6 motor, developed a high-power motor drive, precise control and high-performance wave maker. By contrast, the experimental data and theoretical calculations demonstrated its feasibility. It is the first application in this field with motion controller and high-power servo motor in nation.
