21st Centry is an era of Experience Economy, when people attach more importance to enhancing the quality of tourism and increasingly choose cultural travel. The comprehensive museum, as the temple of knowledge, not only represents its city's visiting card but covers various cities'history and culture, becoming the remarkable tourism resource that fascinate tourist from different palces. However, there still exist lots of problems about operation in our comprehensive museums, especially, many problems have arisen since the free-visiting policy was carried out in 2008, all of which deserve our serious contemplation. Therefore, how to turn the temple of knowledge with few tuorists into the leisure place where people can both relax and learn?Accordingly, this dissertation is divided into five parts. The first chapter, the introductory part, offers a brief introduction to the reasons why this topic is chosen to be researched and the brief review of studies at home and abroad about museums'tourism operation. The second part offers some basic conceptions about museum tourism and features, putting forward the necessity and feasibility to operate museum tourism as well as some principles to operate comprehensive museums. The third part pertinently introduces some cases of in developed countries, and raises the deficiencies in our museum operation by comparing with foreign countries and our country. The fourth part is the bulk of the paper, taking for example to make a empirical research. Firstly, this part covers Fujian museum's brief introduction and real operating conditions; then according to the number of tourists over recent years, with the Raster Analysis, the writer analyzes the museum's operating effects and reasons, predicting the number of future tourists. Moreover, this part also makes analyses of the opportunities and challenges confronted by Fujian museum after it is visited freely. At last, some strategies about how to develop mesuem tourism are suggested. The fifth part is the conclusion and discussion part. When our country is prospering culture greatly, the paper attempts to offer some advice for the development of comprehensive museums and make some contributions to the development of Fujian provience which endeavors to become a powerful Hercynian cultural province.
