Ratio frequency identification is production of research and development of radio technology in the middle of twenty century.In the process of development nearly half a century,radio frequency identification experiences from simply basic research to laboratory,and finally form a large number of commercial products which include manufacture, logistics, medical, transportation, retail, defense and other fields.Over last decade radio technology has broken in many aspects such as long-distance and long-life.Electronic toll collection system is a typical representative of this application.Electronic toll collection is the future of charging system of highway, bridge and tunnel.This application has already widely used in developed countries such as America, Japan and Europe.But ETC system just come into Chinese market only a short period of ten years.There is a certain gap between China and the developed countries,for instance, promotion of applications, operation and management.This also shows that there is still a lot of space for development of ETC market.RFID tag is a major component of this system. With the reader, antenna system, tag constitutes the basic radio frequency identification system.There are three radio frequency identification systems of international standards: ISO standards, EPC Global standards and the Ubiquitous ID standards. And the three standards co-exist in China, while the international ETC system uses three frequency bands: 915MHz, 2.4GHz, 5.8GHz.In 2007, China issued its own ETC standards - dedicated short range communication, which specifies the frequency of the ETC for the 5.8GHz.This paper provides a testing method through which a platform of a tag can be constructed and the theory of RFID would be applied, while low-power chip MSP430F5XX will be used as the MCU and ML5830 will be used as transmitter of the whole tag system in order to realize communications between the tag and the reader of ETC.
