Study On News Sources Bias Of Financial News

Selecting the " China Business News " as a case for content analysis, this paper presents thegeneral characteristics and bias of current financial news sources, inquires the underlyingconstraints, analyzes the discourse space, the interests of all parties expression and practice ofpower in the financial news production process, and furtherly explores how to seek balancebetween the financial news sources bias and journalistic professionalism.The statistical results show that the multi-cited professional appearance of financial newshighlights the bias of the news sources; experts and scholars appear the most frequently;economic elite shows up more and more strongly; official sources have been "relegated to thethird line", but its efforts to control the production of financial news remain unabated; the fuzzysources of "insiders" in the financial news has become the norm, and anonymous sourcesbecomes popularity.The main reason of the finance news resources' bias is that all kinds of power compete witheach other in the news field. Rigid management of the government press publicity, informationsubsidies' flexible discipline and normalization of the press spokesperson system make thecontrol of political power become subtle and dense. The infiltration of public relations,advertising and market forces has become increasingly evident. The effect of experts andscholars, the intellectual elite, and media organizations routine also can not be overlooked.The bias of financial news sources not only damages media credibility, and also affects theexpression of the public interests and public's right to know. Therefore, based on journalisticprofessionalism, financial journalists should abide by the objectivity, fulfill media duties,enhance the awareness of public service, and enhance their questioning spirit, sense of balance,equality perspective and evaluation mentality by means of self-discipline and discipline in orderto effectively improve the bias of financial news sources.
