The Analysis Of Theyellow River Reports Reported In The Henan Daily (2000-2009)

The Yellow River is the cradle of the Chinese nation; the Chinese called it"Mother River". With the broad mind, it bred Huaxia civilization, nurtured the Chinese nation going, and created hard-working, persevering and resilient national character. In the minds of the Chinese, the Yellow River is not the natural river in general sense. In the long historical development, the Yellow River has become the banner and the symbol of the Chinese nation; the Yellow River culture has become the main body and representatives of the Chinese national culture. Researches for reports of the Yellow River have great significance for constructing the Yellow River image, popularizing the Yellow River culture and inheriting the Yellow River civilization.This paper examines the important value of the Yellow River news reports from the angle of Journalism and Communication, takes frame theory and the agenda-setting theory for support, and makes a quantitative statistics by using reports quantity, reports theme, information source, the reported genre, hard and soft news, pictures using, page position and other frameworks about the Yellow River, all of them were reported in Henan Daily. Then it analysis characteristics of the Yellow River news reports and then based on this analysis, we can draw the Yellow River typical image. Reports of Yellow River by Henan Daily has characteristics of reporting political nature, unbalanced agenda-setting, modularity of news reports and so on. Moreover, This paper also discusses report strategies taken by the news media when make reports on the Yellow River. These strategies will provide some useful reference for news media.
