This paper is an application technology subsidized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China,"the research of ice thickness sensor and its detection method"(item number: 60,672,028) and by the Technology (commissioning) Development Project of Yellow River Water Resources and Hydropower Research Institute,"the ice and icicle Automatic Monitoring system of Yellow River". According to the site characteristics of the Yellow River and the actual needs for ice thickness, ice internal temperature gradient and the water velocity under ice in ice automatic detection technology and the icicle disaster automatic forecasting system construction.This paper designs a kind of ice condition automatic measuring system measuring the ice thickness, Ice internal temperature gradient and the water velocity under ice.Based on analysing the method of measureing ice thickness and forecast ice conditions at home and abroad,around the tasks and the intended design goals of ice forecasting system for Yellow River.This paper selected"based on the differences among the air, ice and water resistance properties and temperature characteristics to detect ice thickness"as theoretical to design ice thickness-ice temperature sensor.In addition to a large number of ice detection mechanism experiments in the laboratory,but also the use of old-fashioned ice thickness sensor to do on-site engineering application test in Fen river.Through analysing and studying on the experimental data.we verify that"based on the differences among the air, ice and water resistance properties and temperature characteristics to detect ice thickness"is fully capable of achieving the task of continuous automatic monitoring system for forecasting ice condition of the Yellow River.On this basis, the authors and team colleagues integrate the techniques of ice temperature gradient detection and ice thickness detection to design the ice thickness-ice temperature sensor for forecasting ice condition of Yellow River,Successfully.Compared with the old-fashioned, the new sensor has a new internal structure and data processing algorithms,it can be able to measure ice thickness, water level values, the ice temperature gradient.For ice monitoring in the Yellow River need to measure water velocity under ice,we design a water velocity sensors used Hall devices for measuring water velocity under ice in the Yellow River.Based on the new ice thickness - ice temperature sensors and water velocity sensors.In cooperation with the team members,we design a low-power instrument named ice forecast instrument and ice conditions data remote transceiver module,at last, complete the design task of the Yellow River ice automatic forecasting system. According to the task of"the ice condition and icicle automatic monitoring system of Yellow River",we make practical engineering application testing used continuous automatic monitoring system for ice condition of Yellow Reiver at TouDaoguai hydrological station in inner mongolia autonomous region.We get a large number of on-site data of the ice conditions in Yellow River,complete the reaserch task.Through analysis of the data,we found the problems of the system,propose the suggestions to improve the system.
