Traditional lighting system has much defects,such as the singleness of fuction,complexity ofwiring,the low expansibility of system,the poor effect of energy-saving and so on,can not satisfythe demands of people’s life,so the wireless lighting system comes forth. The wireless lightingsystem has easy installation,high flexibility, and low costs. The design develops a way to build awireless lighting network with a wireless short-range communication standard-zigbee,which isvery low cost, very low power consumption and very low data rate.The paper firstly introduces the overview of the development of intelligent lighting controlsystems, and compares the advantages and disadvantages of several popular short-range wirelesscommunication technology standards,discusses the feasibility of Zigbee technology used inwireless lighting system. After deeply analyzing the ZigBee standard including the structure andfunction of each communication protocol layers,the Z-Stack designed by TI,adding thenode,delivering the network address,data transmitting,binding,routing management and channelconfiguration.Then the dedign of hardware and software design of the wireless lighting system are mainlyintroduced in this paper. The hardware design is based on TI’s CC2430chip. The system consistsof a coordinator, a small amount of routers and end nodes. The hardware design emphasizes theRF module, light acquisition modules and LED driver module. In sofrware part, ZigBee protocolstack is modified and planted based on the standards defined by ZigBee Alliance,including datacollection module, lighting control module,and data transmission module. The design realizes theZigBee cluster-style network, which has lots of functions such as automatically forming networkand dynamically joining the network.In this system,the luminance of light can be adjusted automatically according to the indoorbrightness,the light intensity can be collected periodically.The test results shows that the systemhas stabilized communication which can meet the needs.The lamps can be controlled one by oneor as a whole. Turn on/off the lamps simply or adjust the brightness of lamps can be realized.Thedesigned wireless intelligent lighting system can be operated conveniently, and the power issaved.
