The main work of this paper is to analyze the structure and implement flow of TI ZigBee 2006 protocol stack, under the requirements of ZigBee wireless sensor network project, a ZigBee protocol stack based on cluster-tree network is designed and implemented. The research status of the wireless sensor network is analyzed and the ZigBee technology is introduced, then the architecture of ZigBee wireless network is studied in this paper. According to the functional layers of the TI ZigBee protocol stack, the specification and function of each layer is analyzed, including physical layer, MAC layer, network layer and application layer. On the base of the detailed study of functional realization and work flow of TI protocol stack Z-Stack, according to the hardware resources of this project, the ZigBee protocol stack based on cluster-tree network is designed and implemented. The method of overall design and realization of functional module of the protocol stack is described elaborately in this paper. Sending and receiving sensor data periodically between coordinator and sensor nodes is implemented based on the hardware system composed of TI chip CC2430 of ZigBee. The application based on the protocol stack is realized in this paper. The data of network is processed by wireless network monitoring system running on the PC. The protocol stack designed in this paper is validated through the formation of the network and communication between nodes. The method of designing and implementing protocol stack according to the project hardware resources which is combination of hardware and software has a certain reference value for the future application of ZigBee wireless sensor network.
