A radar image matching is a core unit in the weapon system,which compares the pre-stored images with the images collected during the work to complete the target detection. Its performance parameters directly affects reliability and security of the entire weapon system. Therefore, the radar automatic test system as a judge on the performance of radar, plays an important role in the process of radar's development. This research focus on development of a PXI-bus automatic test system, in order to achieve a comprehensive test for the radar and provide a effective protection for its development, production and maintenance.In this paper, based on detailed analysis of test demand,we follow the latest trends of automatic test system and build a multi-bus automatic test system based on PXI bus. The hardward of system is consists of PXI measurement module such as PXI embedded controller, high-speed data acquisition module, 1553B communication module, and it also contains programmable power supply, selftest combination, signal conditioning and switching combination, the target simulator and microwave absorption cover. This system can realize 1553B communication, RS422 communication and ethernet communication with radar equipment. Beside, it can realize the measurement basic electrical parameters and specific parameters of the radar and meet the requirement of portability. In hardware design, we intruduce the design of two key hardware module which are 1553B communication module and selftest combination. The 1553B communication module simulates the control device in radar system to control the radar equipment, and achieve a stable and flexible hardware-timed communication with radar equipment. The selftest combination which is based on embedded Linux operating system, simulates the function and work processes of radar system in order to detect effectively the function of software and hardware measurement, and enhance the stability of the system. The system software design uses the technology of VISA, ODBC and multi-threading, which realizes that the software has nothing to do with the underlying hardware interface and ensures the independence between testing process and sofware, and achieves a real-time measurements. So the software design meets the versatility, scalability and portability requirements.The system completes full test of the radar equipment after joint commissioning and meet the design requirements.
