Using data warehouse technology, this paper analyzes the transaction data ofonline tickets sales system for national railways, builds a suitable data warehouse modelfor railway passenger transport area, extracts the tickets business data into the datawarehouse, establishes a scientific data analysis from passenger forecasts, marketsegments, timely reports, transport capacity configurations, etc. The paper depends onthe data warehouse technology to change traditional information industry, andestablishes a scientific predictable, timely warning of passenger marketing decisionsupport system step by step, changes the past traditional manual analysis method andmethod of predicting experiences, and provides the scientific bases for railway fullyexcavates potential capacities and helps the railway passenger transportation to achievemaximum benefits.First of all, the paper deeply analyzes the present status of the application of datawarehouse and researches on the related technologies of data warehouse, introduces theconcepts of the data warehouse and the implementation methods of the data warehouse,from requirement analysis, logic analysis, ODS modeling, data warehouse modeling,data mart modeling, data analysis, data acquisition and integration, to final applicationdesign, all the steps are all done a detailed description. For each step of the work content,method, should pay attention to the key points and need to form the files are allintroduced. The data warehouse construction involves three kinds of technology: datawarehouse modeling technology, data extraction technology and data show technology,these technologies are all emphatically introduced in this paper.Through the introduction to the railway tickets system and analysis of the presentstatus of railway passenger transportation, the paper illuminates the necessity andprospect of the application of data warehouse in railway passenger transport system.Themature on-line transaction processing system of railway passenger transport system,provides the basic objective conditions for the data analysis of data warehouse, thepressures of the railway passenger transport industry that faced to the marketcompetition provides external powers for the establishment of data warehouse. Railway passenger transport system of data warehouse has completely two necessaryconditions. And on those basis, the paper makes a further analysis on thedemands of the railway tickets data warehouse construction, and describes the railwaytickets data warehouse localization of target, aggregate demands and theme demands.The paper designs the system architecture of data warehouse based on thesystem requirements from data structure, implementation framework and physicalarchitecture. The structure of data warehouse includes data sources, ODS, datawarehouse, data marts, metadata, data interfaces, storage management and data forms,and the paper sets up the models of the data warehouse and data market. The design ofthe implementation framework standards and defines all the data operation flows andaccess methods of the data warehouse. For the physical architecture, the paper sorts theservers those were used in data warehouse, and designs the deployments of the servers.This paper calculates and plans the current, three years and six years later storagecapacities and the performance of the data warehouse servers based on physicalarchitecture.Finally, this paper realizes the data warehouse for railway tickets using SybaseIQ,Informatica and Cognos tools, and tests the system from two aspects of functionaltesting and performance testing. Now, the whole system has been deployed in Harbinstation of Harbin Railway Bureau, the test-running results and users feedbacks showsthat railway tickets data warehouse adopts the advanced technologies, themes areclearly and defined, the model designs reasonable, the system has consummatefunctions, and data analysis is accurate, thus achieves the expected goal.
