With the development of the information society and the rocket growth of the da-ta, more and more industries begin to establish their own information system, there isno exception to specimen bank. As is known to all, specimen bank is for the storage ofthe tissues, such as blood, serum, and organs. Thus, the detail storage place informa-tion as well as the basic information, including tissue information, patient information, clinical information are required for the tissue stored in the bank. But with the rapidgrowth of the tissue stored in the specimen bank, how to search the information of acertain tissue, including the storage place information and the tissue description doc-uments, is now being a difficult task day by day. Thanks to the information system,we could now not only integrate all the description information of the tissue, but couldalso mark the storage place of a certain tissue. In which case, researcher can immedi-ately find the tissue information that he needs.Along with the deepen study to the establishment of the specimen bank informa-tion system around the world, we have found that there is no standard to guide theestablishment of such system. Besides, most of them just complete the basic storageand search function of the tissue, which, to some extent, is a large barrier to its futurefunction extension. After the survey and analysis to the orthopedic implant bank of DM Center, wehave found that, not only the storage of implants and tissues, including storage placeand the description documents, was in a mess, but also the business process of the bankwas not clear. Therefore, we firstly completed the business process reengineering ofthe orthopedic implant bank, then began its information implementation, includingsystem analysis, system design, and the final system deployment. It first gives a broad view of the research goal and research content of this paper, then it gives a great priority to the business process reengineering of the orthopedicimplant bank. On the basis of which, we bring out the system analysis, which mainlyfocuses on the building of use case model after the feasibility analysis to the system. Then, the framework design, database design and the design and implementation ofcertain model are introduced. At last, we give a detailed functional test of the specimenbank information system before its final deployment. After the regression testing ofthe existing bugs that have been found, the system now is to the requirement of DMCenter, which, now is successfully deployed. We will further optimize the business process as well as the implementation ofthe system so as to let this information system be more powerful in dealing with morecomplicated data and will be valuable to the orthopedic implant research in future.
