High magnetic field, as an abnormal and extreme condition, is widely used in science and technology research. Making good performance high magnetic facility need accurate and reliable calculation, as well as careful and precise winding and manufacturing process. Winding machine is important manufacturing equipment, it is extensively used in industrial area. It is very important to design well performed and precisely controlled winding machine for high magnetic device. This paper is focused on the motor control system for pulsed magnet winding machine. A PLC based servo motor control system for pulsed magnet winding machine is designed and implemented according to the laboratory need. The following are the main contributions of this paper:Implementation schemes of winding machine are briefly introduced, and the winding process for pulsed magnet is analyzed. Weak points of existed winding machines are discussed, and a new system is proposed to solve these problems. Stepping motor and PMSM are analyzed, feasibility and reliability of PLC applied in the control system is also discussed.Detailed introduction of the control system is given. In the new control system, speed coordination and positioning system are designed and implemented. Started from the minimum system, various functions are realized and lots of details are solved, such as reversing, slow down, data storage and recovery and human-machine interface.Preliminary debugging shows the system is well performed, two motors can work with precise coordination, all functions designed in the system are implemented, with good interactive ability. A procotype machine based on the system will be designed later.
