Multi-video acquisition is an important component of a video processing systems. In this paper, cyclone II series FPGA devices of ALTERA company are chosen to implement a 4-videl acquisition and display system. In this system, the inputs are four channels of PAL analog video signal, and the outputs are one channel VGA analog video signal and one channel LCD video signal with RGB565 format.The main contribution of this paper is:1. The whole system scheme is designed according to the performance indices;2. Devices of each module are selected and the corresponding circuits are designed via module design steps;3. The software realizations of the main modules are brief described;4. The software and hardware debugging and the whole system debugging processes are introduced, and the debugging results are given.The implemented system includes eight modules:video decoding module, video storage module, video processing module, video encoding module, serial communication module, video superimposition module, LCD display module and VGA display module. The four video signals are successfully displayed in the different equal space in one monitor in the same time, and any single channel video signal can be displayed in a full-screen by using RS232 serial port technique. This system satisfies all the requirements of the client, and is low power consumption and high reliability.
