With the rapid development of economic and improvement of living standards, people pay much more attention to the food safety. The food accidents that occurred in recent years not only cause long-term adverse effects to the economic, but also endanger body health of the human being. Under this situation, how to improve food quality and ensure the security of food has become a research hotspot.Currently, many countries have conducted a series of research in the aquatic food safety field, and have established some food traceability systems. However, the existing solutions cannot be applied directly in the aquatic product traceability system because of a set of problems; the problems include undesirable expansion, data sharing difficulties and not compliance with the process of aquaculture completely. As an emerging technology, RFID technique is playing a more and more important role in the supply chain management. By utilizing RFID technology, product information can be efficiently collected, tracked, shared and managed in a real time and efficient manner. This helps reduce the overall cost of supply chain management and benefits all involved parties. Considering the shortcomings and demands addressed above, this paper starts from the safety of aquatic products to put forward an aquatic product traceability system integrated RFID technology, WIFI technology, GPS technology and embedded system technology. During the process of building the system, the paper combines with the national program"863"(2008AA100805) and adopts the method of combining theory with practice.Firstly, this paper studies the business aspects of the supply chain according to the HACCP principles and then builds the information model of every part and the traceability system. On this basis, this paper analyzes the aquaculture process and proposes one tracing algorithm with the help of collection and recursive thinking. The algorithm is applicable not only to the aquatic products, but also to the animal breeding and plant cultivation. Secondly, this paper analyzes the retrospective trend of traceability system and the challenges of the data processing. After that, starting from the practicality, flexibility, scalability and ease, apply Web Service technology to study and design the data organization from the respective of EPCIS. Then present a distributed data organization system, not only to meet the needs of information traceability, but also to ensure the scalability, versatility and portability. Finally, adopting the idea of software engineering, design and develop the traceability system with the programming language of C# under development platform of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and database of SQL Server 2005 and SQLCE.
