During the Thirty-years'reform and opening-up, a new social strata of private entrepreneurs who are playing an important part in making contribution to the country's political, economic, cultural and social spheres has grown rapidly. With the growth of economic strength and the expansion of the strata, private entrepreneurs will have their own political view to achieve political participation. Their ultimate purpose is by obtaining the political position that matches their social status and contribution to have a voice in affecting the political trend. Media is not only an indispensable implement but also a most effective communication platform in obtaining a voice in politics. For the private entrepreneurs, understanding, using, participating in media communication activity are inevitable thresholds.This article researches the basic status, influence factor and the funtion of media literacy of private entrepreneurs from the view of political participation, which puts forward a proposal to propel this strata's participation in political by improving media literacy on the foundation of investgative data. Following this thought, this article underlines the following several parts. First of all, it approaches the media literacy to the significance of private entrepreneurs'political participation on the foundation of summarizes the pathway and main features of their political participation. In additon, this article collects 879 private entrepreneurs'questionnaire surveys and analyses the basic status of media literacy of private entrepreneurs. At last, this article uses questionnaire surveys as object of study, observe the interreaction and interrelationship between media literacy and political participation.This article comes to the conclusion that there is a mutual-promotion relationship between private entrepreneurs'media literacy and political participation. Also,from the ivestigation, this article finds that private entrepreneurs'media literacy does not match their political,economic and social status,which is not satisfied. For now, strengthening theoretical study and paying more attention in practice are the inevitable choice in improving the private entrepreneurs'media literacy. This article makes proposals and measures about improving private entrepreneurs'media literacy in three ways:concentrated training,individual study and enterprise management.
