Surface production system is the main component of coal mine. To achieve the orderly and safe conduct, the automation running of ground production systems, the safe and effective delivery of the belt conveyor is the main problem to improve the efficiency and economic benefits of coal production.The work flow of the surface production system is described in this paper. The automation of surface coal mining production system is studied with the surface transport system. In order to realize the automation of the belt conveyor, the Siemens S7-200 CPU 226 programmable controller is selected as the PLC. On-site sensor is used to transmit the data to the programmable controller, which processes the data, performs the operation, realizes real-time control of the transport system. MT506L is selected as the host computer to implement real-time monitoring and recording all kinds of real-time information to facilitate the timely detection for central control room staff.The various failures of the belt transport system are also the subject of this paper. Failures being avoided or dealed with effectively is very important to improve the efficiency of the transport system. At the same time, the safety of the belt conveyor can also be improved greatly. Fault protection device is designed for various failures. The protection equipment is made up of embedded processors and a variety of on-site sensors. The protection device can realize the fault information on-site capturing,timely data processing and on-site control, while the data is sent to the host computer, the safe handling and data analysis can also be implemented by the host computer. This parallel approach integrates on-site fault control and centralized control. In this way, the operating efficiency of the transport system is improved safe and efficient, thereby the automation level of the ground production system is greatly increased, and the human and material resources are effectively reduced. Host computer can also analyze the yield and curve of the accident by the data transferred by PLC to supply an effective available data report for the future production.Meanwhile, in the coal mine surface production system, the final deal with the coal is also very important. The coal will eventually be stored in the main coal bunker, while some will be directly dumped on the ground. To handle this, a video surveillance system is installed at the coal bunker to monitor the storage capacity of the coal bunker and deliver the coal convenient and timely. At the same time, according to the monitoring system, reasonable places for the storage of coal can also be arranged.This paper designs a complete automation device for the ground production system of the coal mine according to the working features of the ground system. The on-site control and centralized control of the belt conveyor is realized, while the security situation of the transport system and the storage information of the warehouse are monitored. By this automation device, the production efficiency is effectively improved.
