In recent years,associated with people growing demand for bandwidth, communication backbone network and high-speed LAN escalated, but the connection between communication backbone network and high-speed LAN had become the bottleneck of the total network. Although many current broadband access solutions such as XDSL, HFC and Cable Modem increased bandwidth, but they were far from demand.And these solutions supporting emerging network services such as Video Conference, VOD, VOIP were defective.They could't provide sufficient bandwidths and QoS services guarantee. Because of it's easy maintenance, high bandwidth, low cost and many advantages PON became the leader in optical access. Through PON can be unified accessed many services such as voice, data and video.This paper first describes the structure and working principle of PON. It examples the current existing five typical FTTx construction models, and make comprehensive comparisons for several FTTx models. Then the paper introduces EPON five typical scenarios, and analyze advantages of scenarios taking the access modes. Then it describes in detail OLT, ODN, ONU equipments planning and construction programs, and describes the different services access and uplink. The emphasis of paper is to describe the process of my participation design in Beijing chinaunicom Wangjing telephone office Zhiyucheng etc. EPON project. The project shows FTTB implementation program. Finally, the paper summarizes the major work of project consummation, and makes a simple follow-up arrangement for the project.
