As the basic carrying network, the access network carrys voice, data and video services.The development of the access network is oriented to wireless and broadband technology. Compared to the copper access network, optical fiber access network (OAN) has obvious advantages in the transmission distance, coverage, bandwidth and types of carried business. Compared to wireless access networks, OAN gets a higher reliability and more bandwidth capacity. Passive optical network (PON) has advantages of simple structure and the passive nature,which bring a significant reduction of maintenance workload and operating costs in its room size, power supply and other facilities. Passive optical network can make the network structure further flattening, so PON has become the preferred OAN construction.How to use the limited resources to construct PON network with high economy, high reliability, and high scalability, is an important issue in access network planning study.Through effective planning of the optical distribution network (ODN) for PON, we can get a variety of network topology meeting optimization constraints. Combined with the actual engineering conditions, taking the different PON design goals and design principles into consideration, we can get required topology of the PON network that meets user’s requirement.In this paper, on the basis of the passive optical access network planning software,I proposed and implemented two kinds of automatic topology planning approach, and give the analysis results of performance of the topology got from automatic topology planning. It mainly includes the following topics: 1. Realize passive optical network performance analysis and topology planning software;2. Proposed the node grouping algorithm used in planning of the passive optical network;3. Implementation of the planning methods of the hierarchical network commonly used in project planning;This paper describes design ideas of the passive optical network planning software,put forward the implementation of network layer planning approach that commonly used in project and realize the approach in the planning software. This paper proposes a node grouping algorithm used in passive optical network planning application.This algorithm take the geographical proximity of two nodes in different groups in the division into consideration, and by considering the different number of nodes between the different groups and mutual distance relationship, get a different priority levels for combination to achieve a relatively balanced load.
