The air traffic increased dramatically because of the rapid deepening of globalization and the rapid development of the aviation industry. Because the traditional way by the instrument approach is constrained by the navigation station layout, the traffic congestion in terminal area occurs occasionally. It not only reduces the efficiency of airport operations, but also reduces flight safety margin. The traditional instrument approach procedures include linear approach procedure, right-angle approach procedure, the reverse approach procedure and suggesting track procedures. This article describes the traditional ground-based instrument approach procedures for the composition of the main geometric form, ultra-high barrier, turn requires basic design standards. We take the airport's VOR / DME approach procedure as an example to discuss the traditional land-based flight instrument approach procedures implementation methods and traditional instrument approach procedure deficiencies.Considering the lack of the traditional approach, this paper take RNAV approach procedures. Through the research of the approach procedure waypoint, we optimize the traditional approach. Optimized RNAV approach procedures is based on national visual and instrument flight procedures for the design criteria. Computer technology is used to design approach procedures. Also we review the results of comparative analysis. We optimize the implementation of the approach procedure flight in simplicity, safety and other aspects. The main difference between RNAV approach procedures and conventional instrument approach procedures is that the RNAV approach procedures for each route point must be defined with the geographical coordinates of points and then achieve the approach route based the point. The traditional approach procedure is based on ground navigation station and ADF, VOR, DME, ILS and other flight instruments. In this way, it achieves ultra-barrier approach. To this end, we first elaborate on the RNAV approach procedures and flight track standards and the basic form of RNAV approach procedures designed to optimize the system requirements analysis. Then we analyse the system's functionality and performance requirements, the system's functional design and the main frame design. The approach procedure is designed for the implementation of the security, simplicity, ease of data hanedling guidelines for the development of RNAV approach procedure waypoint coordinates to study the calculation of critical algorithms for computer-aided design software to lay the theoretical basis .Specifically, we use WGS-84 coordinate system as the navigation coordinate system for the RNAV approach procedures, we derive RNAV approach procedures waypoint coordinates using a formula based on Gauss average earth line problems. Also the formula of the angle and routes are derived. Then we use the mathematical software MAPLE in the formula programming algorithm. Finally, we work out a simple, convenient and easy way to operate the software based on Visual Studio application development platform. Finally, we work out the parameters of each waypoint according to the obstacle data within the terminal area, airport runway axis, the airport reference point.
