There are a lot of issues waiting for solved in the Grid research field. The resource discovery is one the most important problems in it. Since monitored resources have the character of devisity, huge number and dynamic, it is difficult to discover and monitor resources in Grid environments. The mobility and initiativity of mobile agent make the Agent technologies are powerful in solving these problems because.This paper proposed a GridMonitor system for resources discovery and monitoring in Grid based on mobile agent. The LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) technology is introduced into it and the different module and the relationship among them are detailed disscussed. According to the multi-layers visual organization of resources and the separation character of inquire in Grid, the paper designs a layed inquiring method to find the available resource. In this method, firstly, the node inquires the resource in the visual organizations of the layer where the node is in (including sub-visual organization). If the resource is not enough, AgentLeader will dispatch a QueryAgent inquiring to the above layer. This paper Based on the events ordering problems that may happen in models operation, adopts ordering algorithm to make the inquiring of nodes obey the order.Through the simulation experiments in MicroGrid, this paper realizes the Grid visual environments and the simulation of Grid resources nodes. Based on it, the GridMonitor system is tested. The results show that this model could effectively reduces the communication cost during the process of Grid resources discovery and monitoring. And it lays a good foundation for the Grid resources discovery and monitoring research in the future.
