Grid Environment, Resource Management Mechanism

Grid is a kind of new information technology and was developed in the world in recentyears, it was a new generation infrastructure established on the internet. Its core idea is variousresources sharing in the environment of isomerous and distributing system. Grid resources isdistributed, heterogeneous and dynamic, so how to manage grid resources, how to monitor thestatus of grid resources is the problem which must be solved. Resource management system is the foundation and core of grid. Grid resourcemanagement is to locate certain capacity,harmonize and apply it, and in the meantime monitor itsstate. Compared to local resource management, the grid resource management spans manymanaging domains, which will bring heterologous problems when similar resources areconfigured and managed.Firstly, this paper introduces the basic concept of grid, research status, and developing trend,analyzes the most popular computing grid project – Globus. then this dissertation has broughtforward and designed a new method to monitor grid resources, in which mobile agent technologyand LDAP technology are introduced considering the advantage of the two technologies.The main research results and innovations are given as follows: (1) On the basis of theanalysis of grid resource management and monitoring system, the grid resource monitoringarchitecture based on mobile agent has been designed, and each component and the relationshipamong components have been analyzed respectively;(2) Multi-agent has been developed viaIBM software Aglet, and then applied to grid resource monitoring system, thus to actualizeMAGM;(3) Global LDAP and local LDAP have been designed through OpenLDAP, andintroduced to grid resource monitoring system, The application of LDAP can provide securities,and obtain monitoring results rapidly;(4) Grid virtual environment and grid resource nodes havebeen simulated and tested MAGM system successfully.Grid Resource Management and Monitoring Model based on Mobile Agent is differentfrom network management and network monitoring. It innovates to use mobile agent to solve theproblem of Grid Management and Grid Monitoring not only with veracity and efficiency, but alsowith expansibility. In a word, the model has research and commercial value.
