As a new research field which integrates many subjects, now wireless sensor network(WSN) has been one of the researching hotspots in the IT field. Wireless sensor network and ZigBee technology have the very wildly application prospect. The WSN node is the basal unit of WSN. It can execute functions of data sense and communication, network topology and routing by using software driver. This paper researches the software and hardware system of WSN node based on 32-bits processor of ARM and ZigBee technology which can meet the needs of complex environment and multitask. And it also realizes the low-cost, low-power, micromation and high performance.This paper summarizes the theory, history and features of WSN and introduces the network theory, network standard, levels introduction and some related terms of ZigBee. It expounds the design methods and design process of hardware node in detail based on LPC2114 and CC2420 and analyzes the theory and specific design methods of every module. This paper also analyzes the architecture and standard of Microchip ZigBee protocol and it always designs the software protocol from amending and transplanting the ZigBee protocol to direct at the designed nodes. It emphasizes the specific design methods of PHY level and MAC level and gives the software realization methods of network functions. And some tests of the communication, distance, and power cost are also taken for the designed nodes in this paper. After all, this paper provides a more complete solution for the wireless temperature monitor system from using the designed node system and the wireless temperature monitoring system based on Delphi. Some test and analysis are always taken for the system function.The test results show that designed nodes meet the design needs of low-power, low-cost, micromation, expansibility and portability. So in the actual development process, it can be quickly applied to a variety of specific applications of WSN just simply by connecting external corresponding sensors with reserved extension interface and using the API provided by transplanted protocol to adding the appropriate tasks in the application layer. So it can be the basal platform for project.
