Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), is in the rapid development and widely applied to many fields in recent years due to its low cost, low power consumption and so on. This thesis focuses on the design method of low power consumption and small size WSN node based on ZigBee protocol. The main research work and achievements of the thesis are as follows:Firstly, WSN ZigBee protocol is researched in detail. The architecture and each layer's function of ZigBee protocol are analyzed, and a node design method based on ZigBee protocol is proposed.Secondly, design methods of WSN node are discussed. CC2420 RF chip and ATmega128L microprocessor are chosen as the main chips, and their features and performance are described in detail. Furthermore, design methods of each module circuit are introduced.Thirdly, TinyOS transplantation method is investigated. After comparing the hardware differences between the designed nodes with TinyOS originally work platform Micaz, TinyOS is transplanted to the designed node by using the module-based program language NesC.Fourthly, the function of each module and network-forming program in the designed system are studied. Application programs of the node are proposed by using transplanted TinyOS. The functions of sensor temperature data acquisition and wireless communication are implemented in the system, and star-type network is formed based on ZigBee protocol.Lastly, the performance and application of the designed node are tested and analyzed. Experimental results show that the designed node can communicate easily, has strong ability of anti-interference, low power consumption and forming network stable. Therefore, the results have proved that the proposed method in the thesis is effective and advanced.
