Television Media Mainland News Production And Presentation

At the moment politics, trade, and cultural exchange across the straits is in a stage of rapid development, and cross-straits relationships are at an all time high. News coverage and news exchange between the straits, above all else, has not only played an important role in enhancing mutual communication but is also one of the most greatly influenced sectors by mutual exchange and communication. There are a huge number of media in Taiwan, among which Television being the form of media receiving the most mass attention. The question of how to produce news related to Mainland China, what kind of bias is existence and what should the overall image be and what kind of relationship should there be between news production and control factors are very important research topics. While participating in the "Mainland Chinese Journalism Graduate Students doing internship in Taiwan" program the author personally did consistent interviews, and hopes to answer the above questions.From news production and implementing anthropologic methodologies research view point and studies of existing related papers and research results, the article used the combined research method of 4 types of quantification and materialization such as observation, in-depth interview, questionnaire survey and content analysis and undertook in-depth analysis of the production of news by Taiwan CtiTV. The article describes the characteristics of media broadcasters, news production procedures and the overall image of mainland China related news. Finally the article tries to explain the influential factors of mainland China related news on Taiwan media.The main findings of the author are as follows:1. Many Taiwan local media are expanding their team of staff dedicated to Mainland China related news; reporters are stationed in the mainland on a circulation basis.2. Mainland China related news is mainly divided into daily news, major events and news features, of which all are produced under relatively unchanged production procedures and concept; 3. Regarding news presentation, there is more coverage of Mainland China related news; beside local Taiwan sources, the media is relying more and more on the Mainland media; reports on the mainland are numerous but daily news and news features show strong polarization; fields covered are wide and focused and strongly emphasizes interviews of the general mass; the reports are mostly neutral.Finally, the article analyzes the details of the control factors of mainland China related news on Taiwan media and concludes the following:1. less political control; 2. market control playing a more important role; 3. the station or program definition playing a more important role 4. the broadcaster faces huge professional pressure. All in all, the production and presentation of Taiwan media on mainland China related news is produced under the combined influence of these various complicated factors.
