Today, environmental protection has become the focus of world attention. The party's 17 largest made it clear that China wants to build a resource-saving and environment-friendly society and firmly establish the concept of ecological civilization in the whole society. As a social and environmental monitoring, with its rapid response, the report true, its implications are wide and guide the powerful features, the news media has been and is playing an active and effective Role in order to push the whole society to attach great importance of environmental protection and ecological construction, and realize the fully sustainable development. "People's Daily" as China's mainstream media, in the domestic and international environmental issues for the development and changes in information dissemination and public opinion guidance at the same time, is also actively seeking to achieve maximum spread effect of the ways and means. This paper attempts to use quantitative and qualitative analysis of a combination of research methods to the "People's Daily" 10 years of environmental reports , trying to identify its characteristics and development trend of transmission, and explores effective measures to disseminate results .This article first chapter of the first topics raises the background, and define the concept of environmental reports. After the review of relevant literature, the paper points out the research methods. Chapter two of this study is the core content. The auther uses content analysis of the "People's Daily" from 1998 to 2007 environment report samples for quantitative and qualitative analysis,and draws the surface characteristics and the features of content. Chapter three on the basis of content analysis makes forecasts and analysis of the development of the environment reports and the reasons for the overall trend. Chapter four in order to better improve the environmental report and promote resource-saving and environment-friendly society by building effective feasibility , makes some recommendations.
