Because the radar performance is affected by the radar return signal form the land and sea surface, radar engineers have focused on the research on clutter's modeling and simulation. Radar signal simulator features economy, flexibility, repeatability. It's indispensable to radar system designing, radar system development and radar system test. Whether the clutter model is accuracy, all-purpose and flexible or not, which is an important criterion accessing the radar signal simulator's performance. Research on modeling and simulation of radar clutter is helpful for the design of radar signal simulator, also helpful for the design of radar system, optimizing of algorithm for signal processing. From the point of view of solution to engineering application, methods for modeling and simulation of clutter and its realization are proposed for the design of radar signal simulator. The main contents and creative points in this dissertation are as follows:The simulation model of the radar clutter's video signal is introduced. Some factors are discussed which affect clutter's statistical characters and simulation. The basic way to simulating clutter in radar signal simulator is brought forward.Modeling of land clutter for ground-based radar is discussed at length. Land clutter's power spectral model is presented, and the characters of the probability distribution of land clutter's amplitude are also analyzed. According to the different simulation situation, The Methods for calculating land clutter's backscatter cross section in ground-based radar environment are proposed. They are an algorithm for calculating site-specific land clutter's backscatter cross section map, an algorithm for calculating non-site-specific homogeneous land clutter's backscatter cross section map, an algorithm for calculating non-site-specific heterogeneous land clutter's backscatter cross section map.Modeling of sea clutter for shipbome radar is discussed at length. Sea clutter's power spectral model is presented, and the characters of the probability distribution of sea clutter's amplitude are also analyzed. According to complicated duct propagation environments, an algorithm for Radar beam's grazing angle calculating based on ray tracing method is brought forward, the method for calculating the propagation factor in evaporation duct environment is also presented by the method of parabolic equation. With the contents mentioned above, an algorithm for calculating sea clutter's backscatter cross section map in evaporation duct environment is proposed for shipbome radar signal simulator.Modeling of radar clutter for airborne radar is discussed at length. Calculation of clutter power spectrum density is seen as a major task in the airborne radar clutter's simulation. A range-doppler clutter power spectrum density (PSD) computation method for pulse Doppler radar is introduced in this paper. At the same time, this method is validated by computer simulation. A real-time computation method is presented for clutter PSD, with which can be applied at real time in airborne signal simulator.Coherent correlated Rayleigh, Coherent correlated LogNormal, Coherent correlated Weibulland Coherent correlated K clutter for general pulse signal in radar is simulated with method of zero memory nonlinearity transform and Spherically Invariant Random Process.Spatial correlation in radar clutter is analyzed in the dissertation. A method for spatially correlated radar clutter simulation is proposed for general pulse radar signal simulator.After analyzing and simulating clutter for general pulse radar, an effective solution of simulating clutter for spread-spectrum pulse radar is described. Based on the former results on the characteristics of clutter, the Statistical Characteristics of radar clutter in spread-spectrum pulse radar are investigated by Monte Carlo method.
