As a typical error-correcting code, RS code can correct random errors and burst errors, particularly in correcting burst errors, so it is widely used in a variety of communication systems. RS code is used as error-correcting code in this wireless data transmission system. In this system, taking into account the possibility of burst errors relatively large, by reducing the rate in exchange for the reliability of the system to improve communication quality, so RS(32,16) code was chosen.The author of this article assumes RS codec algorithm and the realization of the study in the wireless data transmission system and tests the whole system. The riBM algorithm is used in this paper, and the use of constant multipliers of the characteristics optimized codec circuit to save resources. In this paper, the design of the RS(32,16) codec modules are programmed in Verilog hardware description language.The simulation and verification are achieved through ISE7.1 tool. RS(32,16) encoder/decoder was implemented on Spartan-3 FPGA of Xilinx company.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. The basic concepts and development trends of wireless data transmission system and error control are briefly introduced.2. Discussed the arithmetic of the wireless data transmission system and chose an appropriate program of channel coding.3. The whole process of RS codec is described detailly, then simulated every module of RS(32,16) code and achieveed them in FPGA.4. Introduced the hardware platform and hardware structure of wireless data transmission system, then the test programs and test results. are presented.
