STB(Set-Top-Box) products and services, as a part of digital television industry, is developing very fast, and still has great potential. Especially in the background that HDTV(High Definition TV) programs have been successfully applied in Beijing Olympics.This dissertation describes issues and solutions on some key modules in DVR STB system, based on long period pre-study in HDTV signal characteristic and STB architecture. In order to give a whole picture, this dissertation describes the overall system requirements and system structure, and introduces the hardware and software development environment, in which Sti7710 (ST) is used as main processor, and ST-OS20 embedded real-time operation system is used as software platform. Below three items show what have been done, and main achievements in this dissertation:1. Traditional DVR STB has a disadvantage that it only supports FAT file system. This dissertation analyzes the ATAPI interface for hard drive and ports EXT2 file system from Linux to ST-OS20, and sets up a VFS (Virtual File System) to manage files as an integrated interface toward upper application. In order to improve the performance of DVR storage system, this dissertation optimizes the functionality of VFS based on analysis of HDTV video stream characteristic.2. Designs management interface of HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) toward display devices, and implements HDCP (High-band Digital Content Protection) protocol in Sti7710 platform to secure the intelligence property of video contents.3. Accomplishes process design and code design of DVR function modules, and optimizes the software structure to make it more robust and easier to be extended. This dissertation also optimizes trick mode play algorithm, and implements a new function of time-seek play, with which customer can access and manage the programs more dynamically and conveniently.This dissertation is based on"Sti7710– High definition DVR STB"project, which is the first domestic commercial project to implement the HDTV DVR system on ST7710 platform. Work in this project improves the functionality and optimizes the performance of HDTV DVR system. Design and verification in this dissertation provides a standard model of HDTV DVR development and is worthful as a reference for commercial application of Sti7710 platform.
