Today along with the Science technology advancement, TV has developed not only from black & white into color but also from the analog into digital mode. It's usage has already exceeded the broadcasting entertainment field and widely extended into every domain of people's living. Currently, as the top standard of DTV, the High-Definition Digital Television is entering into the people. China has already established a corresponding development schedule that will hopefully implement digitize till 2010 and terminate the analog broadcast until 2015.The HDTV has two types, intergrated and separated. Nowadays The so-called HDTV in the market is actually the separated type due to the unreleasing standard for HDTV of China. Digital signal can only be received by setting a STB in front of the TV.Contents in this paper refers to the 7710 STB provided by ST CO. The User Interface is designed according to CCTV's requirment. First of all, a GFX (graphic Interface) is developed on 7710 device. Then an OSD user interface is implimented according to the Menu Displaying Logic the way GFX and Bitmap works. In order to protect the digital programs and prevent illegal copies ,this paper studis the HDCP specification, designs a state machine to describe the communication process, and makes the process implemented in C code, also ,a dynamic validating process is designed to keep the continuity of the HDCP communication.Basing on these works,the HDCP protocal is realized at last in this paper.Firstly This paper introduces relative information of HDTV-STB, including the brief introduction of cable HDTV, the embedded RTOS ST20, the development kit for ST20, the driver module related with OSD and the GDP layer in HDTV-STB. Then the the way GFX implemented is expounded. Finally the HDCP communication protocal on HDMI is developed considering the digital patent protection.
