In recent years, with digital high-definition equipments gradually going to daily life, people seldom awares the challenge to publisher by the illegal copy of digital content when they enjoy the visual feast of HD equipments. It causes billions of dollars in economic losses each year. Under this background, the Hollywood publishers and Intel develop the HDCP(high-bandwidth digital content protection) technology, it prevent the illegal copy and replication of digital content by encrypting the data transferred in high-definition link. After HDCP launched in2000, almost we can see "HDCP ready" in every digital video equipment, from graphics, HD TV to set-top box, DVD player.In this paper, under the standardized development trend of copyright protection in the domestic market, finished depth and detailed study and research of the HDCP protocol and the HDMI protocol, summarized the HDMI design of the framework and the detailed design of the HDCP system structure from the two protocols, analyzed that to finish the implementation of HDCP system must with the help of FSM principle, and finally widely use the FSM principle to accomplish the RTL design of HDCP system. Meanwhile, in order to test the viability and stability of the HDCP system, analyzed the system from simulation and verification:In the aspect of simulation, establish the HDCP system simulation environment, test the HDCP encryption function is correct or not under different excitation source; In the aspect of verification, add the design of HDCP into the HDMI system, combined with FPGA hardware platforms and other hardware device to execute physical test, observe the playback match the requirements of encryption or not.In summary, the research and design work of this paper are:(1) Introduction and analyze HDMI protocol and HDCP protocol.(2)Introduce principle of FSM and its application in digital IC design, enumerate the HDCP system widely used FSM instances.(3)Indicate the framework of HDMI design to discuss the design of HDCP system and complete each module’s RTL coding one by one, test the HDCP designed to meet the design requirements through software simulation and FPGA hardware platform.Finally, the design of HDCP system has passed the two steps test of simulation and verification:During the simulation, the encrypted data keep pace with the protocol Appendix data; During the playback, encrypted1080p HD film sources transmit stable. The results prove that this paper’s design of HDCP accomplished project requirement, and finished the most creative work for HDCP function in HDMI transmitter chip design.
