Most currently used image acquisition and processing systems are base on CCD image sensors.The CCD-based imaging system have the drawbacks of huge size,high cost, high power consumption and relatively difficulty on integration and function expansion. Moreover,certain applications impose the requirement of wireless transfer of data/image. This thesis introduces the design and implementation of a DSP-based CMOS image acquisition and processing platform,which is equipped with a wireless communication channel realized using MSP430 and a ZigBee IC.The image acquisition and point-to-point image transfer function is tested in the thesis.The system is ideal for applications,which require visual information and has limitation on exploring optical fibre cables to build the image transfer channel.The paper introduces the hardware design and software of the system in detail.Image acquisition results and wireless data transfer tests are presented in the paper as well.
