The project discussed in this article is one of the provincial key projects of science research and social development in 2007 and is also one of the projects our government has been paying much attention to in recent years. The destruction of the harbor architecture is mainly caused by the local scour at its groundwork, so the reliable monitoring is the foundation to guarantee its safe run. Aimed at this needs. This paper designs the remote monitoring and control system for sediment erosion of harbor architecture. By means of real-time collection, transmission and analysis of the data of local scour of harbor architecture, the automatic monitor system solved the problem of scour monitoring. In this paper, systematic analysis of the principle of ultrasonic telemeter and pressed water-depth meters are presented. Based on the requirements of remote monitoring system for the harbor architecture safety, the remote monitoring and control system based on analyzing and remote monitoring the sampled data is designed. The system can collect, monitor data and perform control through remote control center based on GPRS. It decreases the cost, increases the measuring accuracy and avoids the deflection of reading data comparing to the artificial means,This paper includes seven chapters. In the first chapter, the relevant background of this project is presented. Chapter 2 introduces the basic theory of the remote monitoring and control system for sediment erosion of harbor architecture. The design of whole computer system will be detailed in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 introduces the design of lower computer's hardware in detail. The design of the whole system's software is introduced in Chapter 5. Chapter 6 includes results of the experiments and analysis of errors. At last,a conclusion about the project will be presented.
