With computer technology developing and modern designing method becoming more abundance, Top-Down Design, Virtual Assembly Design, Parameter Design and Design Validation have become popular researching aspect. Those research results provide a strong guarantee for the realization of product rapid design.Based on the research of above-mentioned modern design theories and various kinds of design tools provided by Pro/ENGINEER, the paper raises the specific ideas of product rapid design. And then, with CAD technology supported, the paper establishes rapid design principles and solution of product rapid design by the combination of above-mentioned modern design methods and design tools.Then, Rapid design system was programmed using the secondary development tool Pro/TOOLKIT of Pro/Engineer and ACCESS database under the Visual C++.Net2003 development environment, which provides MFC DLL framework, database access technology. Rapid design system is mainly composed of some functions, which could simplify the operation of Pro/ENGINEER, and three modules, including parameterized design tools, deformation design of parts and deformation design of component.Finally, taking design and series of fiber cleaner as example on the Pro/ENGINEER platform, the paper expounds the complete design process of the solution and how to realize the unity of design and verification. That is, mainly through adopting Top-Down design methods based on the virtual assembly technology, following the parameterized design rules, to realize parameterized rapid design of the product. And then finish deformation design of the components using rapid design system. At the same time, some of the key technologies and methods are also researched theoretically.The example of engineering application proved that above-mentioned scheme improved efficiency of product design and induced the labor intensity. It is hoped that the article can contribute to the promotion of advanced design theories, methods and CAD technology. The paper can be used as reference materials by someone who research design methods and custom-design process or develop design system based on Pro/ENGINEER.
