Secondary vocational education has its own characteristics, one of the most prominent features is teaching the student in vocational training aim to technical personnel. To understand and master the theoretical, the practices become a necessary process, and also it is benefit for the students to gradually enhance the practical problems, but the students could only do the experience by themselves. However, most students have no chance to personally involve in the actual operations, because of the lack of experimental resources in secondary vocational education. Therefore, the demonstration and explanation is the main teaching method, which it much worse than practices and became a bottleneck during the teaching in secondary vocational education. Theoretically, using the virtual laboratory could effectively improve the problem of lack of experimental resources.In this research, put the computer assembly as an example to explain the virtual laboratory method. The motherboard, chassis, monitor, cpu, hard drives, memory, graphics hardware et al. was drawn using the pro/e software. And Eon studio virtual reality software was used to build the virtual experimental platform for computer assembly, combined with vb script software creating a three-dimensional interaction of objects in the scene. The platform can be observed from any angles, the computer assembly is achieved by dragging the hardware through the mouse and keyboard with number keys in the three-dimensional environment, the students can observe and operate the computer assembly operations process. Furthermore, the virtual laboratory can estimate the students work, the virtual computer shows a natural boot-strap if the assembly completed and correct, otherwise it shows the error, and also explain the method.After the virtual experimental platform for computer assembly is complete, it was used in the teaching process in two class of Chaoyang engineering technical school, which is network security class and computer application class separately. The results indicate that the virtual laboratory can not only increase the opportunities for students doing experiment of computer hardware assembly process, but also effectively improve the students learning enthusiasm and initiative, observe the ability, practical ability and problem-solving skills. And it shows achieved good teaching results, and it has been recognized by both of the students and the teachers.It provides a new way realistic for secondary vocational educational to resolve the problem of lack of teaching resources, which the success of the virtual experimental platform for computer assembly. And this research also provides a basis theory and practice for developing other virtual experimental platforms.
