With the rapid development of science and technology, the rate of product replacement is accelerating and shortening the life cycle of product significantly, which leads to fierce market competition increasingly. In order to win competition in the market, Enterprises have adopted rapid design technology to raise productivity, shorten development cycle and accelerate new products to market. Now the modes of engineering calculation in rapid design technology is backward and inefficient, and it can't be linked with the parametric design ,etc.And the problems can be solved by the system of part rapid design based on parametric technology .The paper analyses the general process and the rapid product design technologies used commonly in mechanical design, discovering some problems in the process of the product rapid design. To these problems, the author puts forward the core technology of the rapid design which interacts with engineering calculation and parametric design. Through analyzing the problems, the author establishes the business model of the part rapid design process, nails down the function requirements of the system, conceives the function model of the system, puts up the architecture of the system, and proposes the scheme of the system. Also studies the theoretical support of the system-parametric design technology, system development tools-UG secondary development technology and the technology of system integration–system communication technology, etc.On this basis, this article selects UG NX4.0 as the second development platform, applies MFC AppWizard as development and design Wizard, uses UG/OPEN API as the interface for secondary development, utilizes Microsoft Access2003 as a basic database ,makes use of ADO,OLE-DB integration as a database access technology, develops the system platform of part rapid design based on parametric technology which can be integrated seamlessly with UG.Finally, the author chooses the valve core retrofit design of LF7161-520 automobile steering gear of Chongqing Changfeng Company as an example, describing the process of the valve core's rapid design. It is concluded that it shortens shortening design period significantly and improving the design efficiency, which proves the feasibility of system framework and implementation strategy of part rapid design system platform.
