Digital Age University Library Information Service Model

Information service is the core content in academic library work. With the advent of digital age, avalanching information resources characterized by its digitalization and network, information service agencies and network search engines make academic library face unprecedented pressure.Now academic library is not the only choice to college users any more for information access. The changing of users' behaviors on information getting impels staff in academic library to rethink the developmental mode of university library. Facing increasingly intense competition from other information agencies, and increasingly decrease of users' dependence on the library, it is urgent to find a better way out, which can gain more users favor. In this way, it shows the importance on discussing information service mode.This paper studies information service mode in academic library from angles of information service users, staff, content and strategy. Research mainly probes into the effect that these four factors made on information service mode, by the way of typical sampling method, web page survey, literature data survey, chart explaining method and so on. It separately selects ten universities from both China and USA as samples, and analyses in detail on users, staff, content and strategy; on the bases of analysis, it makes a comparison of information service mode between Chinese academic library and American academic library; finally, profited by some advanced points of American information service, and combined with the situation of our country, it structures a suitable information service mode for national academic library in digital age.
