The Research On Academic Digital Library Subject Service Mode Based On Information Foraging Theory

The new method of teaching and research changed the subject environment of academic digital library, and subject users' needs appeared new characteristics. Academic digital library needs to provide subject service which should be more fit to the new characteristics of subject users needs be based on user information behavior. Information foraging theory research the user information foraging process and analysis of the foraging behavior of users. Information foraging theory has established a series of more mature user behavior theories and models. By combing the information foraging theory, defined the related concepts of academic digital library subject service, and discussed the purpose and significance of the academic digital library subject service based on information foraging theory,namely, optimizing academic environment. Combining with the Patch Models and the Information Clues Theory, cognitive psychology and information theory, optimized academic environment. from three aspects: horizon of information patch, horizon of information clues, and aggregation of the subject service elements. Selected academics in Nanning as empirical research object, through the way of questionnaire and interview survey of academic digital library subject service users utilization and needs situation, through the way of questionnaire investigation of Nanning academic digital library subject service development situation and library leaders advice, analysis the gap between the construction of academic digital library subject service and users needs, and the construction of academic digital library subject service need information foraging theory guidance. Combined with the theoretical research and empirical research results, established the academic digital library subject service mode based on information patch horizon and the academic digital library subject service portal based on the information clues horizon, providing ideas for the construction of academic digital library subject service.
