With the rapid development of Radar technology, Modern Electronic Warfare faces a more and more complex environment. In the modern battlefield, the regular radar signal has gradually lost its key role since it is easily tracked and disturbed. Complicated system radars such as Frequency Agile Radar, PRI Stagger Radar are used more and more in various environments. It is not possible to dispose large amount of real radar devices to supply the needed electronic and magnetic signal environment in the research, experiment and assessment of next generation EW(Electronic Warefare) devices. As a result we need a simulator to simulate various kinds of radars in experimental environment. By utilizing this simulator, signal classification can be advanced without practical radar signals, not only saving cost, but also enhancing the efficiency.The radar video signal simulator discussed by this paper is based on the type of"Computer + PCI bus Simulator". The simulator is of great general acceptance and flexibility. Different kinds of radar signal can be simulated by modifying the software. And the simulator can realize the reappearance of lifelike outfield environment by invoking the PDW(Pulse Describe Words) data collected by the scout system. The simulator outputs Pulse Video Signal and Pulse Parameter Code. The Video Pulse Signal can be seen from the oscilloscope, and the Pulse Parameter Code can be read out through special connector line. As a result, it benefits signal classification in great part. This paper introduces Radar Video Signal Simulator in three parts.In the first part, the radar signal simulating technology has been discussed, and some familiar radar signal simulator has been contrasted and analyzed. Then the model research of parameters of radar pulse signal has been done.In the second part, the functions and frame of software have been confirmed. By adopting modularization to design the simulator software, the software can realize the setup of the scene, the creation of PDW (pulse describe words), the queueing of multiple signals, the disposing of overlapped pulses, etc. On the basis of comparing the merge sorting algorithm with the fast sorting algorithm in PDW sorting, the pulse mixed sorting algorithm has been designed thoroughly, and the result shows that the fast sorting algorithm is less than the merge sorting algorithm in time consuming. This provides the definite proof for selecting the core sorting algorithm in this paper.Finally, the driver program framework WDM(Windows Driver Model) has been analyzed with great detail. The working principles of WDM in Windows 2000 has been explained, especially the main routines. And the pro and cons of the mainstream driver develop software such as DDK(Driver Development Kit), Driver Studio, and Windriver have been analyzed. Based on things discussed above, taking the driver design of PCI card for example, the design method and process of the material driver program has been introduced. The features and configurations of the PCI Bus and the architecture of driver framework constructed by"Driver Wizard"has been introduced with great detail. Driver Entry routine, device adding routine, the software configuration of PCI internal registers and base addresses, the IRP queueing, and the communication between application program and driver program has been mainly explained. At last, the debugging and installation of driver program have been introduced briefly.
