With the development of science and technology, the wireless sensor network(WSN) integrated of sensor technology, information processing and network communication technologies is emerged. Wireless sensor network is a kind of self-organization network formed through wireless communication, which is composed with a plenty of small network nodes. It can implement the data collection, data processing and the application of transmission, and it is a new development area of modern information technology, has a very broad development space and application prospect. With the in-depth study of wireless sensor networks, the expectation of the network protocol is that using a simple protocol stack support for the effective operation of wireless sensor networks, network nodes joined flexible and convenient;using broadcast information in order to void reciprocal response;using simple protocol topology and concise command;saving the system overhead,and so on. Because of protocol requirement of wireless sensor network, the IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee protocol is appeared.The technology of IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee is an economic, efficient, low-rate data transmission network technology, can work on 868/928MHz or 2.4GHz radio frequency, with that IEEE 802.15.4 standard organization is responsible for the physical layer and MAC layer while ZigBee Alliance is responsible for the network layer and application layer. Because ZigBee technology has the features of low-cost, low-power, reliable data transmissions, short-distance communication, security, and so on, it gradually becomes the hot issue for domestic and foreign institutes and universities research. The thesis is for the development of wireless sensor network which is based on ZigBee technology.The thesis first introduces the development, characteristics and applications of wireless sensor network based on ZigBee technology, analysis the ZigBee protocol stack, analyses the MpZBee1.0-3.6 protocol stack and transplants it cross hardware platform, and also debugs the system with the hardware platform designed, does a lot of debugging and tracking works; then forms a star, multi-nodes, single router wireless sensor controlled and monitored network successfully with a coordinator and three end device; designs and develops basic application, through the coordinator can control and manage the whole network, can realize the application of the lights remote controlled, temperature monitored of environment, data collection and transmission, and so on; finally though the software of wireless sensor network management, tests and demonstrates the application of the system. After certification, we achieve a good result, and complete the expected objective successfully.
