As a form of wireless sensor network, a new technology, IEEE 802.154 protocol and ZigBee specification detailed description of a close,low-complexity, low-power consumption, low data rate, low cost of wireless network. This network is mainly used in automatic control and remote monitoring field.This paper mainly studies the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol stack,Including function and service of MAC layer and physical layer and the implementation model of IEEE 802.15.4 was analyzed in the NS2, and the performance of the ZigBee protocol was analysised and summarized.Firstly, we introduce the composition of ZigBee protocol stack, Including its network equipment, network working model, network topology structure, the protocol stack model is introduced in detail, and the physical channel, physical frame structure and types of function-primitives provided by the physical layer and The MAC layer of data transmission mode and various channels scanning mechanism.Then, On the MAC layer of frame structure and CSMA-CA channel access mechanism was analyzed. Including the composition of several important parameters of super frame, BO, SD, BO and the concept of beacon, While in CSMA-CA. including CW,BE and time slotted channel access mechanism. These important parameters provides the theoretical foundation for the performance analysis.Then, This paper briefly introduces NS2 simulation software. Our Focus is implementation of the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol in NS2 software. In the physical layer include PIB enum type, frame structure, and the primitive service of the physical layer, MAC layer includes:the MAC address type and frame structure, the MAC sublayer communication primitives.Finally, we detailed introduction simulation parameters and scripts involved in the simulation process. In this paper we used star topology structure in the process of our simulation, it can work in coordination with the beacon mode, Data transmission using direct or indirect manner. Then, we analysis the influence of network performance parameters:BO,CW, and data transmission, Beacon-enabled mode and the results are summarized.
