The wireless communication theories developed rapidly in recent decades. There are various wireless communication technologies in civil applications. In military applications, since more and more requests of anti-interference and confidentiality are proposed, the spread spectrum communication (such as Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum and Differential Frequency Hopping) has become one of the main research aspects. The various wireless communication technologies make the hardware architecture differences in the conventional wireless communication platforms. But conventional wireless communication platforms are so dependent on the hardware that it is not flexible and not extendible and doesn't meet the need of development.Due to the development of micro-electronics technologies and the development of large scale integrate circuits, the performances of digital signal processors (DSP) are greatly improved. The Software Defined Radio (SDR) is proposed and possibly implemented. This thesis discusses a hardware platform design and debugging based on SDR. Composed of multi-DSPs and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), this platform has strong capacity of digital signal processing and flexibility. It can be applied in many communication systems.Firstly, the research background, objective and the international development situation are introduced. Secondly, the requirements the platform is analyzed. Besides, the basic architecture of the platform and the main devices used in the platform are decided. Finally, using the ways of putting forward questions, analyzing questions and solving questions, the crucial circuits designs of the hardware platform are analyzed and researched; the software of the programmable devices is designed; the debugging work is done. One of the main objectives of this thesis is to find out the design errors and oversights of the platform so that the specified algorithms can be implemented on the platform in the future time.
