As the maturing of the theory and application of software-defined radio, software-definedradio has been widespreadly concerned in various areas around the world, it also has been widelyused in the field of mobile communications, and it has became a general direction of futuredevelopment of communication technology as well. Software-defined radio has the characteristicsof flexibility and openness.With the rapid development of the programmable logic device, FPGA (Field-ProgrammableGate Array) has shown great advantages in performance, power consumption, cost and other aspectsand becomes the current hot spots of electronic circuit design. Therefore, this paper does the designand research on the software radio up and down conversion technology which is based on FPGA.Firstly, this article studies software radio up and down conversion technology, and thencompletes the digital up/down conversion algorithm design and implementation which is based onthe FPGA after doing relevant theoretical research. During the study of the digital up converter, thedigital conversion program of using the combination of FPGA and AD9862is proposed andcompleted. In the study of the digital down converter, the digital conversions each module,including numerically controlled oscillator, half-band filter and FIR filter has been analyzed andalgorithmic designed respectively. It completes the circuit and multi-stage filter structure design ofthe digital down conversion and finishes the digital down conversion by the way of multi-stagefilter. Finally, the GMSK signal modulation and demodulation is carried out with using the FPGA.It verifies the correctness of the design by laboratory-produced software radio experimentalplatform for system debugging. The design of completed programs not only solve the processingspeed bottleneck problem of software radio digital up and down conversion, but also effectivelysatisfies the requirements of the expanding of software radio.
