With the rapid development and updating of wireless communication theories in recent decades, there has been an increasing need for wireless communication in both civil and military applications. Lacking diversity and realized by mono-purpose integrated chip, traditional communicating modes for communication equipments function singly and inflexibly, and cannot be compatible with each other. Therefore, engineers are dedicated to solving this urgent problem—to develop high performance communication equipments that are compatible with the current communication equipments in use and yet guarantee the security, reliability and speed of information exchange.Guided by Software Defined Radio (SDR) and based on micro-electronics technology, this thesis compares and analyzes the strength and weakness of hardware platforms for communication signal processing using either DSP or Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Synthesizing their strength and weakness, this thesis proposes a high performance signal processing hardware platform for communication, which is composed of both DSP and FPGA. The model of core apparatus and realization of circuit are also exemplified in this thesis.Standardized and modularized, the platform is capable of software dynamical reconfiguration, and can expand in function by utilizing the flexibility of DSP and speed of FPGA.With the implementation of the platform, the outcome of debugging proves that the platform is no longer heavily dependent on wireless communication signal processing platform, and features characteristics of high-performance communication platform: DSP and FPGA being the core processing units, the platform functions flexibly, back up software dynamic loading, implement multi-modes, multi-function and restructuring, and capable of dynamic signal processing, sound and statistic transmitting, comparatively strong anti-interference, and satisfactorily used in common.
