With the development of modern industry and logistics technology, the traditional warehouse is not adequate for the demand of storage and retrieval. The using of automatic warehouse can economize the use of space and improve the efficiency of material's storage and retrieval, the automatic warehouse is being widely used in modern logistics industry.Based on the characteristics of stacker crane and automatic warehouse, here use three-dimensional mathematical models to change the cells of the automatic warehouse into the points of three-dimensional coordinate in order to calculate the operation distance of stacker crane. Then it comes up with two kinds of heuristic algorithms, maximum time algorithm and distance parameter algorithm to show of efficiency of storage/retrieval operations. The distance parameter algorism changes the different unit vectors into the same unit vectors in horizontal direction movement and vertical direction movement to achieve the compare of distances with all the cells. The maximum time algorithm is used to compare the storage/retrieval time of different cells. Therefore, we can use these two methods to achieve the compare of storage/retrieval efficiency with different cells. And then it gets the optimization order code of storage/retrieval operations for every cells via the programming the oracle stores procedures and creating the system management table by warehouse management system. Therefore, in each storage/retrieval operation to choose the optimization cell is just to retrieve the minimum order code in all the proper cells. Following the general storage/retrieval rule and with the using of optimization algorithm of cell, this paper points out the general flow chart of Storage/Retrieval operations in the automatic warehouse for the information of design automatic warehouse.At the end, it adopts the 'IMHS_Sim/Animation' three-dimensional...
