Tianyige Collection Study

Tianyi Pavilion was originally the private library,in Ningbo,owned by the defense minister Fan Qin in Ming Dynasty.Built during 1561-1566,it has a long history of 440 years.Tianyi Pavilion is the earliest private library now existent in China, and also one of the three earliest private libraries in the world.In 1982,Tianyi Pavilion was publicized the national import cultural relic preservation organ by the State Department.Tianyi Pavilion once held 70,000 volumes of ancient books, however due to history and social factors,only 13,000 volumes up to New China.Then the workers had been seeking and collecting ancient books to look for the lost books and to extend collections.And now,it holds nearly 300,000 volumes of ancient books, among which many are rare volumes.Tianyi Pavilion's collections are famous for the local chronicles of Ming Dynasty and imperial exam records.Tianyi Pavilion library is one of our country's most precious history culture legacies,and also the model for private libraries in our country.Tianyi Pavilion,owed by FanQin Family,from the Ming Dynasty to New China,had gone through 13 generations continuously;it has been the "myth" in the history of ancient library history in China,also the reduction of bibliophiles' protecting ideas in the east of Zhejiang. The ancient architecture combines library culture with social history and architectural art.The ancient private library culture,outspread by all sides of Tianyi Pavilion library,is the import key to study our conuntry's private library.The cultural connotation of human civilization deposition,undertaken by activities for collecting books,can be called library culture.Library culture came into being and developed in the social culture environment of definite age,area, nation and family,manifesting for cultural connotation of collection management, collection content,library construction and so on.Library culture,undertaken by Tianyi Pavilion,not only affected the east Zhejiang's regional culture,moreover the Ming and Qing Dynasties' traditional culture in our country, and even the neoteric and modern culture.This article has studied Tianyi Pavilion'collecting from beginning to end,then amplified on discussing the library culture of Tianyi Pavilion,thereout elicited analyzing the ancient private bibliotheca's impact on modern libraries.The article is divided into four parts.The first part above all introduces the general situation and historical evolution of Tianyi Pavilion, in succession analyses the sources,management and using of Tianyi Pavilion's bibliotheca.The second part probes into the characteristics of bibliotheca and scattering and gathering,also appraises several relational Tianyi Pavilion bibliography.The third part summarizes Tianyi Pavilion's status and effect on the history of library and literature.The last part expatiates a few apocalypses received during studying on Tianyi Pavilion bibliotheca, including using and protecting about the ancient books,the historical function of private bibliotheca , the conversion from ancient private collections to modern private collections and ancient private bibliotheca's effection on modern libraries.
